How to Checking GEM!!!

5 Step for checking Gem

1. Observation with naked eye, magnifying glass or microscope with amplification 10-30X to see color, transparency, facet, phosphorescence, light spread, blemish and etc.

2. Observation with microscope with amplification 30-200X for classification gems according to internal attributes.

3. Finding the index of refraction by using refractometer of both flat-shiny gem and arched gem. Birefringence is the difference value between maximum and minimum of the index of refraction.

4. Observation twin colors and light attribute of gem by using polarize scope. Find light path in the gem.

5. Additional observation.
- Use spectroscope to observe light absorption in wave length that is able to be seen with
the naked eye.
- Find specific gravity.
- Use ultraviolet light to observe natural fluorescence.
- Use light filter glass to observe synthesized gem.
- Screen real diamond out from non-real diamond.
